This summer marks the 40th anniversary of the very first Apollo moon landings, when Buzz and Neil took that one small step that really was a giant leap for mankind.
To mark this momentous milestone the National Space Centre will be pulling out all the stops to celebrate and making sure every visit to the centre really is out of this world.
Launching on 18-19 July will be a brand new interactive experience, Project Apollo: The Lunar Landings. Taking its place at the top of the 42m high iconic Rocket Tower the new exhibition will add a whole new experience to every visit, whatever your age. Land the lunar module in our new simulator , be transported back in time with the sights and sounds of the 60s, have your picture taken on the surface of the Moon, deliver your own ‘alternative’ words to Neil Armstrong’s famous ‘that’s one small step…’, relive the experience of watching that famous first step in a 1969 living room, share your memories and thoughts about the first lunar landing and get up close to a genuine piece of the Moon returned by the Apollo astronauts.
